Keppel Prince was contracted by Thiess Contractors to fabricate and erect the roof trusses and major structural steel sections for the Melbourne multipurpose venue, today known as the Vodaphone Arena.

Challenge

To fabricate, transport and erect 8 x 120 metre clear span roof trusses for a major Melbourne sporting and entertainment venue

Solution

An innovative integral cantilever design which uses the strength of structural steel and balances the forces to evenly spread the weight to the vertical supports.

The Keppel Prince 100 tonne mobile crane was used to lift and position each truss with precision.
